Starting Online Business is much easier than it used to be. When I build my first website in 1995 there was so little available to use that you HAD to hire expensive computer programmers just to set up your site. Many companies are still doing that and spending tens of thousands of dollars a year to create and maintain their website. But as a start up business there are now MANY pre-canned templates out there that you can use to save a lot of TIME and MONEY. I’m using Site-Build-It for this site which is one of those templates. You may choose to use any template you like, but I recommending you don’t re-invent the wheel and start from scratch. I’m going to describe the advantages of Site-Build-It because I’m familiar with it, but I’m sure there are other template programs that do the same thing. I do not recommend buying advanced programs like Dreamweaver and trying to learn it yourself. They offer excellent on site training courses to learn how to use all of the features. Also don’t hire a web company to create your site for you because it will be WAY too expensive and it’s likely to fail.
Why use a template program like Site-Build-it? It’s faster It’s cheaper It’s less risky It’s less error prone It supports most standard Internet business models It’s very cost effective Let’s look at each of these one at a time: It’s faster: When you use a pre-canned program like Site-Build-It, it tells you how to build a simple site and also tells you how to market it so you generate traffic and, ultimately, revenue. If you try to figure all this out on your own it will take you months to get your first site running. It’s not worth the time; use what other people already know. It’s cheaper Building a website or Internet business from scratch could cost between $5,000 and $10,000 or maybe much more. If you go to a web designcompany , they with charge you at least $3000 and it will take months to complete. Using a template program you should be able to get your first site up and running in a month or so and it only costs you the price of the program. You’ll save thousands of dollars!!
It’s less risky
When ever you re-invent the wheel from scratch it’s VERY risky and not likely to work the first time. I have a friend who’s building a CUSTOM home that his son designed. Every aspect of the project is risky and has potential problems. When you take on those kinds of risks in a new business, failure is the most likely outcome and loss of a lot of money is also very likely.
It’s less error prone
Using a template program rather than writing your own HTML is less error prone, because the coding behind the template has been used by thousands of people. You know that it WORKS! If you or someone else programs a site, there will probably be glitches in the coding that will take months to correct. Anything you program will have to work on: XP and Vista, MAC and IBM; Internet Explorer (all releases) and Mozilla. The likelihood that your custom written website will work in all of those environments is not high. Why spend your time fixing errors rather than building and running your business?

I recommend if you’re thinking of starting an online business you at least consider Site-Build-It or another template program. You’ll be amazed how fast you can start your business and how easy it will be to do.
